DU students strike over Ducsu polls
Dhaka Bishwabiddaloy Shikkharthi Odhikar Mancha, a platform for Dhaka University (DU) students, is observing a daylong strike on the campus on Thursday demanding Ducsu and dormitory union elections.
The leaders of the platform said they have called the strike as the university authorities did not announce the date for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) elections as per their demand.
The academic activities on the university are however going on as usual.
“The students are being deprived of their democratic rights since no elections have been held over the last 20 years,” the agitating leaders said on Thursday.
The DU students have long been demonstrating under the non-political banner to force the authorities to hold the long overdue Ducsu and different elections to hall unit of the university.
The Ducsu election was last held in 1990.
