Humayun Ahmed to be honoured at Ekushey Boimela
The Amar Ekushey Book Fair is going to be dedicated to the late celebrated author, playwright and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed, Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad said on Thursday.
“The government has taken a plan to dedicate the Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2013 to the Bengali literature legend and one of the most renowned writers Humayun Ahmed,” Azad said while responding to a written query from reserved women seat MP Sadhana Halder in Parliament.
He said a limited space of the Bangla Academy premises is named after the language warriors, writers, litterateurs, intellectuals during the month-long book fair every year.
The minister added that efforts could be made to announce a part of the book fair as Humayun Premises.
Responding to a question by Manikganj-3 MP Zahid Maleque, Azad said, “The government has taken a project for construction of Shilpakala Academy in 16 districts and divisional headquarters. Manikganj district Shilpakala Academy will be built if the project is okayed.”
“Two more projects have been taken for the preservation and repair of the country’s archaeological heritages. Apart from these two projects, two more schemes are being implemented on the same issue,” the minister said replying to another query from Dhaka-7 MP Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin.
